Security Officer Training
Our comprehensive security officer training is the cornerstone of our organization and is essential for preparing our personnel to handle a wide range of situations with professionalism, confidence, and competence.
This training typically includes several key types: basic security procedures, legal knowledge, emergency response, conflict resolution, customer service, and technical and use of force systems training.
Book Now →Basic security procedures cover patrol techniques, access control, observation skills, and report writing. Officers learn how to maintain a secure environment through routine checks and by identifying suspicious behavior.
Legal knowledge ensures officers understand the laws surrounding their authority, use of force, arrest, and citizens’ rights, reducing liability risks for both the officer, Hawkeye Security and by extension our clients.
Emergency response training prepares guards to act swiftly in fires, medical incidents, evacuations, or security breaches, potentially saving lives. To this end, part of the officers initial and recurrent training includes certification in both First Aid and CPR.
Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills are critical in handling disputes or aggressive behavior without resorting to force. Additionally, comprehensive customer service training is increasingly important, especially in retail, residential, or corporate settings, where our officers often serve as the first point of contact.
It is important for our officers however to be thoroughly trained and certified in use of force training as well. This tactical training provides our security officers with the advanced skills needed to respond effectively to high-risk situations. It enhances their ability to assess threats, maintain situational awareness, and act decisively under pressure. This type of training includes defensive tactics, controlled use of force, room clearing, and active shooter response. Our officers receive comprehensive training and industry recognized ASP certification in the deployment of handcuffs, Defensive OC Spray, use of the Tactical Baton. In addition, our officers are trained in and equipped with a less lethal Conductive Energy Weapon (commonly known as a Taser). For our Armed Officers, additional tactical training and semi-annual firearm qualification and training ensures our Armed Officers are both competent and capable in their duties. The tactical training required of our officers ensures they are better prepared to protect people and property in dynamic environments, such as large events, corporate facilities, or high-security areas. It also boosts their confidence and professionalism, reducing liability and increasing trust from clients who expect a higher level of preparedness and security presence on site.
Lastly, with the growing use of surveillance systems, access control technology, and communication devices, officers must be trained in technical systems to operate and troubleshoot equipment efficiently.
The benefits of our comprehensive training are clear: our officers become more effective, reliable, and professional. These well-trained personnel reduce risks, enhance safety, improve client satisfaction, and uphold the reputation of Hawkeye Security. Overall, comprehensive training builds trust with clients and ensures our officers are fully prepared to meet the demands of modern security environments.
IMPORTANT NOTE State certifying agencies only require a basic overview course on security law for a person to be “certified” as a Security Officer. Hawkeye Security goes far above and beyond this to include a comprehensive Hawkeye Security Academy and additional training by a Field Training Officer before the officer is allowed to work independently. We ensure that all officers who are on your premises have the requisite knowledge and skills to respond to any and all issues that may arise while projecting a professional image.
